"Poetas en Nueva York" el 3 de Octubre en Feria del Libro

En la semana del 27 de septiembre al 4 de octubre del presente 2009, se llevará a cabo el Encuentro "Poetas en Nueva York" que al llegar a su sexta edición, reafirma a través del arte de la palabra, la presencia de la comunidad latinoamericana en los Estados Unidos. En esta ocasión se harán presentes cerca de 50 poetas y otros artistas de diferentes orígenes, en su mayoría son residentes en la ciudad, además de un grupo de poetas que vienen desde la isla Puerto Rico, México y Colombia así como de diferentes estados de la Unión Americana. Respaldados por el lema: ‘Cultura con Todos’ esta jornada se iniciará –como ya es tradición- con la ‘Masa Alegre’, una caminata con música, cantos y lectura de poemas en las esquinas de la ciudad. El encuentro se lleva a cabo en español durante ocho días en locaciones de Queens, Brooklyn y Manhattan. En una de las fechas se convoca de forma abierta a "Poesía en todas las lenguas" donde participan poetas de diferentes países del mundo residentes en la ciudad con textos en sus idiomas nativos. ‘Poetas en Nueva York’ se ha ido posicionando año tras año dentro de la agenda cultural de la ciudad, pues el colectivo homónimo del encuentro está conformado por artistas de diferentes disciplinas y constantemente realiza actividades durante el año, como fue en julio pasado la 2da Maratón Cultural de 12 horas de presentaciones artísticas, donde el tema de la paz, fue comunión.El colectivo Poetas en Nueva York está desarrollando varios proyectos como publicaciones de obras de autores, conciertos y grabaciones. Esta vez, como cada otoño, la cita es una oportunidad de escuchar a quienes ya han trasegado por el verso, compartiendo tarima con jóvenes prospectos de las letras. Los eventos serán gratuitos y en algunos de ellos habrá micrófono abierto para permitir la participación del público.

El Sexto Encuentro "Poetas en Nueva York" cuenta con el respaldo de diferentes organizaciones como: Centro Humanista de las Culturas, Tertulia "Momentos de…", Taller Boricua, ‘Zona Cultural’ de La Nueva Radio Internacional, Rose bar, Make the Road, Terraza café-bar y "New York Book Expo".Contacto:

Languages of New York - Fourth Annual Multilingual New York Book Fair Expo

The world is at home in New York. Even from its beginnings, the city was a place of encounter for a great diversity of languages and cultures. In 1643, less than forty years after the first Europeans arrived, it was reported that 18 different languages were spoken among its 500 inhabitants. Today the city is home for more than 130 languages and none of them sounds foreign here.
The Fourth Annual Multilingual New York Book Fair Expo celebrates this year the richness and diversity of the languages of New York. The academic and cultural program will present music, theatre, literary readings; and book signings showcasing authors who write their works in one of the eight most spoken languages in the City besides English. New York Book Fair Expo is proud to present a distinguished group of authors, some of them living in the States and others coming from Argentina, Colombia, India, Greece, Panama, and other corners of the world, all converging in the NY Melting Pot.
